To reset the PRAM, restart your PowerBook and immediately press and hold the Command (⌘), Option, P, and R keys simultaneously. Keep holding the keys until you hear the startup sound for the second time, then release them.
The PowerBook G4 12 Inch 1.5 GHz supports a maximum of 1.25 GB of RAM. It has 256 MB of onboard memory and a single slot for a 1 GB SO-DIMM DDR PC2700 (333 MHz) module.
To improve battery life, reduce screen brightness, turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not in use, close unused applications, and ensure that energy saver settings are optimized by going to System Preferences > Energy Saver.
If your PowerBook G4 won't boot, try resetting the PRAM and the PMU (Power Management Unit). If the issue persists, check for a faulty power adapter or battery, and ensure all RAM and internal components are properly seated.
To connect an external monitor, use a mini-DVI to VGA adapter or mini-DVI to DVI adapter, depending on the monitor’s input. Connect the adapter to the mini-DVI port on the PowerBook, then attach the monitor cable to the adapter.
To upgrade the hard drive, back up your data, power down the laptop, and remove the battery. Unscrew the bottom casing and disconnect the hard drive cable. Carefully remove the existing drive, replace it with a new 2.5-inch IDE drive, reconnect the cable, and reassemble the laptop.
The PowerBook G4 12 Inch 1.5 GHz can run up to Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. To install the OS, insert the Leopard installation DVD, restart the computer while holding the 'C' key, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
Overheating can be caused by dust buildup, blocked ventilation, or running intensive applications. To prevent overheating, regularly clean the vents, use the laptop on a hard, flat surface, and avoid blocking the fan exhaust.
To enable wireless networking, ensure that the AirPort card is installed. Open System Preferences, click on Network, then select AirPort from the list. Click "Turn AirPort On" to enable Wi-Fi networking.
To troubleshoot slowness, check for sufficient free disk space, close unused applications, and verify that the RAM is adequate for your tasks. Running disk utility to repair permissions and clearing caches can also help improve performance.
