To perform a basic setup, connect the printer to a power source and turn it on. Install the ink cartridges and load paper into the tray. Install the printer drivers on your computer from the provided CD or download them from Canon's website. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
Check if the printer is properly connected to your computer and is turned on. Ensure that there is enough paper in the tray and the ink cartridges are installed correctly. Check for any error messages on the printer display and clear any paper jams. Restart the printer and your computer.
To clean the print head, access the printer’s maintenance settings from the control panel or the software installed on your computer. Select the 'Clean Print Head' option and follow the on-screen instructions. Repeat the process if necessary to improve print quality.
Place the document on the scanner glass or in the document feeder. Open the Canon MP Navigator EX software on your computer. Select 'Scan/Import' and choose your preferred settings. Click 'Scan' to begin scanning the document. Save the scanned document to the desired location on your computer.
Turn on the printer and open the front cover. Wait for the cartridge holder to move to the replacement position. Press down on the cartridge you wish to replace and remove it. Unpack the new cartridge and remove the protective tape. Insert the new cartridge into the holder and press up until it clicks into place. Close the front cover.
Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Open the front cover and gently remove any jammed paper. Check the paper feed area and the rear tray for any remaining paper pieces. Close the cover, plug the printer back in, and turn it on. Ensure that the paper is loaded correctly to avoid future jams.
The Canon Pixma MP490 does not support wireless connectivity directly. You can connect it to a wireless network by using a wireless print server or by connecting it to a computer that is on the network and sharing the printer with other devices.
First, perform a print head cleaning using the printer's maintenance menu. Ensure that the ink cartridges are not empty and are installed correctly. Also, check the paper type setting on your printer and ensure it matches the paper you are using. If problems persist, align the print head.
Access the printer’s maintenance menu and select 'Align Print Head'. Follow the on-screen instructions to print an alignment page. Place the printed page on the scanner glass and press the 'Start' button to complete the alignment process.
The Canon Pixma MP490 does not support direct mobile printing. However, you can print from a mobile device by sending the document to a computer connected to the printer and printing it from there. Alternatively, use a third-party app that supports printing over a network.
