To set up the Synology VS60, connect it to your network and power it on. Access the Synology Surveillance Station through a web browser and follow the setup wizard to configure the necessary settings.
First, ensure that the power cable is securely connected and the outlet is functional. If the device still doesn't power on, try using a different power cable or contact Synology support for further assistance.
To add cameras, log in to the Surveillance Station, navigate to the 'IP Camera' section, and use the 'Add Camera' wizard to configure and connect new cameras to the system.
Regularly update the firmware and Surveillance Station software, clean the device to prevent dust buildup, and check the system logs for any signs of issues that need attention.
Ensure that all network cables are properly connected, restart your router and the VS60, and check for any IP conflicts on your network. You can also test the network connection using the built-in tools in the Surveillance Station.
You can backup recordings by setting up a backup task in the Surveillance Station, which allows you to save footage to an external storage device or another network location.
Visit the Synology website to download the latest firmware version. Then, log in to the device's management interface, navigate to the 'Update & Restore' section, and follow the instructions to upload and install the firmware.
Check the network bandwidth and reduce the video quality or resolution if necessary. Ensure that the VS60 and cameras have sufficient network resources and that there are no bandwidth-heavy applications running simultaneously.
To reset the VS60, locate the reset button on the device. Press and hold it for about 10 seconds until you hear a beep, indicating that the device is resetting to factory defaults.
Enable HTTPS, change default passwords, use strong, unique passwords, enable firewall rules, and regularly update the system to protect against vulnerabilities.
