To reset the BIOS password, you need to access the motherboard and remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes. This will clear the BIOS settings, including the password. Make sure to power off the laptop and unplug it from any power source before attempting this.
First, check if the power adapter is properly connected and functional. Try a different power outlet and ensure the battery is seated correctly. If the laptop still does not power on, perform a hard reset by removing the battery and AC adapter, then holding the power button for 30 seconds. Reconnect and try again.
To extend battery life, adjust the power settings to a balanced or power-saving mode. Reduce screen brightness and turn off unnecessary background applications. Regularly update the operating system and drivers to ensure optimal performance.
Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a screen cleaner. Avoid using paper towels or rough materials. For the keyboard, you can use compressed air to remove debris and gently wipe the keys with a cloth.
To upgrade the RAM, power off the laptop and remove the battery. Unscrew the back panel to access the RAM slots. Carefully remove the existing RAM module(s) by spreading the clips and insert the new RAM module until it clicks into place. Reattach the back panel and battery before powering on.
Overheating can be caused by dust buildup in the vents or fans. Clean the vents using compressed air and ensure the laptop is on a hard, flat surface to allow airflow. Consider using a cooling pad and check for any processes consuming high CPU resources.
To perform a factory reset, restart the laptop and press F11 during boot to access the recovery environment. Select 'Troubleshoot' > 'Reset this PC'. Follow the prompts to complete the reset. Ensure you back up important data before proceeding.
Visit the Lenovo Support website and enter your laptop model to find the latest drivers. You can also use Lenovo Vantage software to automatically detect and install updates. Ensure the laptop is connected to the internet during this process.
Click on the network icon in the taskbar, select the desired wireless network, and click 'Connect'. Enter the Wi-Fi password if prompted. If you face issues, check if the wireless adapter is enabled and update the wireless drivers if necessary.
Ensure the touchpad is not disabled by checking the function key settings (usually Fn + F6 or F8). Update the touchpad driver from the Device Manager. If problems persist, try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver or use an external mouse temporarily.
