To set up your ASUS RT-AX68U router, connect it to your modem and a power source. Use a computer or mobile device to connect to the default Wi-Fi network. Open a web browser and enter "http://router.asus.com" or "192.168.50.1" in the address bar. Follow the setup wizard to configure your internet connection and Wi-Fi settings.
To update the firmware, log in to the router's web interface at "http://router.asus.com". Go to the "Administration" section, then "Firmware Upgrade". Click "Check" to see if an update is available. If there is, click "Update" and follow the instructions. Ensure that the router remains powered during the update.
First, check all cable connections between the router, modem, and power source. Restart both the modem and router. Ensure the router's WAN settings are correct by logging into its web interface. If the issue persists, contact your ISP to verify if there is an outage or account issue.
To reset the ASUS RT-AX68U, locate the reset button on the back of the router. Press and hold it for about 5-10 seconds until the power LED starts to flash. Release the button and wait for the router to reboot with default settings.
To secure your network, change the default admin password and set a strong Wi-Fi password. Enable WPA3 encryption if supported by your devices. Regularly update the router firmware and disable WPS if not needed. Consider enabling the firewall and setting up a guest network for visitors.
Log into the router's web interface and navigate to "AiProtection" then "Parental Controls". Enable parental controls and set up profiles for each device you want to manage. You can set internet usage schedules, block specific types of content, and monitor usage.
Consider placing the router in a central location, free from obstructions. Use a Wi-Fi extender or mesh network if necessary. You can also adjust the antenna angles or upgrade to higher-gain antennas to improve coverage.
Access the router's web interface and navigate to "VPN". Choose between "VPN Client" or "VPN Server" depending on your needs. For VPN Client, enter the VPN provider's details and credentials. For VPN Server, configure the settings to allow remote access. Save and apply the changes.
Check for network congestion and limit the number of connected devices. Update the router firmware to the latest version. Use Quality of Service (QoS) settings to prioritize traffic. Reboot the router regularly and ensure it's in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating.
Enable Remote Management in the router's web interface under "Administration" settings. Note the WAN IP address of the router. Access the router remotely by entering the IP address in a web browser. Ensure you have a strong password for security and consider using a VPN for secure remote access.
