To set up your ASUS RT-AC1200G Plus, connect the router to your modem using an Ethernet cable. Then, connect your computer to the router using another Ethernet cable or via Wi-Fi. Open a web browser and enter 'http://router.asus.com' or '192.168.1.1' in the address bar. Log in using the default credentials (admin/admin) and follow the Quick Internet Setup wizard to configure your internet connection.
To reset your ASUS RT-AC1200G Plus, locate the reset button on the back of the router. Press and hold the button for about 5-10 seconds until the power LED starts to blink. Release the button, and the router will reboot and reset to factory settings.
If you forget your ASUS router's password, you will need to reset the router to factory settings by pressing and holding the reset button for 5-10 seconds. After reset, use the default login credentials (admin/admin) to access the router.
To update the firmware, log in to the router's web interface. Go to 'Administration' > 'Firmware Upgrade'. Click 'Check' to see if a new firmware version is available and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.
If your ASUS RT-AC1200G Plus is not connecting to the internet, check all cable connections and ensure they are secure. Restart both the modem and router. Verify that your ISP settings are correctly entered in the router's web interface. If the issue persists, contact your ISP for further assistance.
To improve Wi-Fi signal strength, place the router in a central location away from obstructions and electronic devices that may cause interference. Consider using the 5GHz band for less interference and higher speeds. You can also adjust the antennas for better coverage or invest in a Wi-Fi range extender.
To secure your network, change the default login credentials and Wi-Fi SSID/password. Enable WPA2 or WPA3 encryption in the wireless settings. Regularly update the router's firmware and disable WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) to enhance security.
Log in to the router's web interface and go to 'Guest Network' under the 'Wireless' section. Enable the guest network feature, set up the network name (SSID), and configure the security settings. Save the changes to activate the guest network.
To prioritize devices, access the router's web interface and navigate to 'Adaptive QoS' > 'Bandwidth Limiter'. Here, you can assign higher priority to specific devices or applications to ensure they receive more bandwidth.
The LED indicators on the ASUS RT-AC1200G Plus provide status information. The power LED indicates if the router is on. The WAN LED shows internet connection status. The LAN LEDs indicate Ethernet port activity, and the 2.4GHz and 5GHz LEDs show the status of each wireless band.
