To install an operating system on the ASUS RS163-E4-RX4 server, first prepare a bootable installation media (USB or CD/DVD). Enter the BIOS setup by pressing the 'Delete' key during boot, set the boot priority to your installation media, and restart the server. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the OS installation.
To perform a BIOS update, download the latest BIOS version from the ASUS support website. Copy the BIOS file to a USB drive. Enter the BIOS setup during boot, navigate to the EZ Flash utility, and select the BIOS file from the USB drive. Follow the prompts to complete the update.
If the server does not power on, check that the power cables are securely connected and that the power outlet is functional. Verify the PSU switch is turned on. Inspect the internal components for any loose connections. If the issue persists, try using a different PSU or contact ASUS support for assistance.
To monitor the server's health and performance, use ASUS' ASWM Enterprise software. Install the software on a client PC, connect to the server, and access various monitoring features such as CPU usage, temperature, fan speeds, and more.
To replace a failed hard drive, power down the server and disconnect it from the power source. Open the server chassis, locate the failed drive, and remove it from its bay. Insert the new drive, ensuring it is securely seated. Close the chassis, reconnect power, and boot the server. Configure the new drive in the RAID setup if applicable.
To configure RAID, enter the RAID configuration utility during boot by pressing 'Ctrl + I'. Follow the prompts to create a new RAID array, select the RAID level (e.g., RAID 0, 1, 5), and choose the disks to include. Once configured, save and exit the utility.
Regular maintenance tasks include checking for and applying firmware and software updates, cleaning dust from inside the chassis, verifying connections, monitoring system logs for errors, and testing backups to ensure data integrity.
To reset to factory settings, enter the BIOS setup during boot and navigate to the 'Save & Exit' tab. Select 'Restore Defaults' or a similar option to reset the BIOS settings. Save changes and exit. Note that this does not affect data on the hard drives.
If the server overheats, ensure there is adequate airflow around the server. Check that all fans are operational and clean any dust buildup. Consider installing additional cooling solutions if necessary. Review server workload as excessive loads can contribute to overheating.
To expand memory, power down the server and open the chassis. Identify the DIMM slots and insert compatible memory modules into the available slots, ensuring they are securely seated. Close the chassis, power on the server, and verify the memory is recognized in the BIOS.
