Begin by placing the motherboard on the standoffs inside your case, aligning it with the I/O shield. Secure the motherboard using screws, ensuring all connections align with respective ports.
Download the latest BIOS update from the ASUS support website. Save the file to a USB drive, enter the BIOS setup, and use the EZ Flash utility to update the BIOS.
The ASUS P5GL-MX motherboard supports DDR2 RAM modules. Ensure the RAM speed is compatible and does not exceed the motherboard's specifications.
Check if the power supply is connected properly and the power switch is functional. Ensure all cables are securely attached and inspect for any visible damage on the motherboard.
To reset the CMOS, locate the CMOS jumper on the motherboard. Move the jumper from the default position to the reset position for a few seconds, then return it to the original position.
Refer to the motherboard manual for the front panel header pin layout. Connect the power switch, reset switch, HDD LED, and power LED connectors accordingly.
Enter the BIOS setup and configure settings such as CPU frequency, RAM timings, and boot order. Ensure all settings align with your hardware specifications for optimal performance.
Ensure audio drivers are installed correctly. Check the BIOS settings to confirm that onboard audio is enabled and verify speaker connections and volume settings.
Connect additional storage drives to the available SATA or IDE ports on the motherboard. Ensure that the drives are properly powered and configured in the BIOS.
Power off and unplug your system. Use compressed air to remove dust from the motherboard surface and ensure proper airflow. Avoid using liquid cleaners directly on components.
