To reset the BIOS password on your ASUS N55SL, you can try removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes and then reinsert it. Ensure the laptop is completely powered off and unplugged before attempting this.
First, check if the power adapter is properly connected and functioning. Try a different power outlet. If the battery is removable, take it out and press the power button for 30 seconds, then try turning it on with the battery back in place.
To improve battery life, reduce screen brightness, close unnecessary applications, disable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when not in use, and use power-saving modes. Moreover, consider replacing the battery if it is several years old.
Use a can of compressed air to blow out dust and debris from the keyboard. For surface cleaning, lightly dampen a microfiber cloth with water or isopropyl alcohol and gently wipe the keys.
To upgrade the RAM, turn off the laptop and remove the battery. Unscrew the RAM cover on the underside of the laptop, then carefully insert the new RAM module into the slot at a 45-degree angle and press down until it clicks securely. Reassemble the components.
First, check if the touchpad is disabled by using the function keys. If not, update or reinstall the touchpad driver from the ASUS support website. If issues persist, check the touchpad settings in the control panel.
To perform a factory reset, restart the laptop and press F9 during startup to access the recovery partition. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the system to factory settings. Backup your data before proceeding.
Ensure the laptop is on a hard, flat surface to allow proper ventilation. Clean the air vents with compressed air to remove dust. Consider using a laptop cooling pad and check for any resource-heavy applications running in the background.
Connect the external monitor to the laptop using a VGA or HDMI cable. Press the Windows + P keys simultaneously to open the display options and select the desired display mode (e.g., Duplicate, Extend).
The ASUS N55SL is compatible with 2.5-inch SATA hard drives and SSDs. Consider upgrading to an SSD for faster performance and better reliability.
