To perform a factory reset on the ASUS CM1855, restart your computer and repeatedly press 'F9' during boot-up. This will take you to the recovery partition where you can select the option to restore the system to its original factory settings.
First, ensure that the power cable is securely connected to both the CPU and a working electrical outlet. Check for any visible damage to the power cord or plug. If the issue persists, try a different power cable or outlet. Consider resetting the power supply by unplugging it and holding the power button for 10 seconds before reconnecting.
To upgrade the RAM, first power off the computer and unplug all cables. Open the side panel of the CPU case by removing the screws. Locate the RAM slots and insert the new RAM modules, ensuring they are securely clipped in. Reassemble the case and reconnect all cables before powering on the computer.
Ensure the CPU is powered off and unplugged. Remove the side panel to access internal components. Use compressed air to gently blow dust from the motherboard, CPU fan, and other components. Avoid using a vacuum or touching components with bare hands. Reassemble the case once cleaning is complete.
Check that all fans are operational and clean of dust. Ensure the CPU is placed in a well-ventilated area. Consider adding additional cooling fans or replacing thermal paste on the CPU if overheating persists. Regular cleaning of air vents and fans can also help prevent overheating.
Start by checking for malware using a reliable antivirus program. Clear unnecessary files and programs, and consider upgrading the RAM or hard drive to an SSD for better performance. Regularly defragment the hard drive and update all drivers to their latest versions.
Ensure your graphics card supports dual monitors. Connect each monitor to the CPU using available HDMI, DVI, or VGA ports. Once connected, right-click on the desktop, select 'Display settings', and configure the display arrangement and settings as needed.
Visit the ASUS support website and download the latest BIOS update for the CM1855. Extract the downloaded file to a USB drive. Restart the computer and enter the BIOS setup by pressing 'F2' during boot. Use the EZ Flash utility to select and update the BIOS from the USB drive.
Turn off the computer and unplug all cables. Open the CPU case and disconnect all PSU cables from components. Remove the screws securing the PSU to the case, and slide it out. Insert the new PSU, secure it with screws, and reconnect all cables. Ensure compatibility with your system's power requirements.
Ensure the hard drive is properly connected to the motherboard and power supply. Enter the BIOS setup to check if the drive is detected. If not, try a different SATA port or cable. Ensure the drive is formatted and initialized in the operating system's disk management utility.
