To expand storage capacity, you can add more hard drives to the empty bays or replace existing drives with larger ones. After installing the new drives, use the Storage Manager in DSM to expand the existing volume or create a new one.
First, check the power connection and ensure the power supply is working. Try connecting to a different power outlet. If the problem persists, remove all attached drives and try booting again. If the NAS boots, one of the drives may be faulty.
Open the Hyper Backup application in DSM, then click on "Create" to set up a new backup task. Follow the wizard to choose your backup destination, schedule, and other preferences. Save the task to activate scheduled backups.
Yes, you can access your Synology DS1010+ remotely by setting up QuickConnect or enabling DDNS in the Control Panel. Ensure the necessary ports are forwarded on your router to allow external access.
Identify the failed drive via DSM notifications. Power down the NAS, remove the faulty drive, and replace it with a new one of equal or larger capacity. Power the NAS back on and use DSM to repair the degraded volume.
In DSM, go to Control Panel > Update & Restore. Click on "Check for Updates" to find the latest DSM version. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the update. Ensure all data is backed up before updating.
Ensure the NAS is placed in a well-ventilated area. Check that the fans are functioning correctly and clean any dust buildup. Consider installing additional cooling if necessary. Monitor temperatures using DSM's Resource Monitor.
In DSM, open the Control Panel and navigate to User. Here, you can create new users, assign them to groups, and configure permissions for shared folders and applications to control access levels.
