To set up your Synology CMA-01, connect it to your network and power it on. Use the Synology Assistant software to locate the device and follow the on-screen instructions to configure the network settings and initialize the system.
Ensure all cables are securely connected and try restarting the CMA-01. Check your router settings and make sure DHCP is enabled. If issues persist, reset the CMA-01 to factory settings and reconfigure it.
Access the Synology CMA-01 web interface, navigate to the Control Panel, and select 'Update & Restore'. Click on 'Check for Updates' and follow the prompts to download and install the latest firmware.
Regularly check for firmware updates, back up your configuration settings, and ensure that the device is free of dust and debris. Periodically review and manage your storage to prevent it from reaching capacity.
Press and hold the reset button on the back of the CMA-01 for about 4 seconds until you hear a beep. This will restore the device to its default settings, removing all custom configurations.
Ensure that the CMA-01 is placed in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight. Clean any dust from the vents and consider using a cooling pad if the problem persists.
Use Synology's Hyper Backup application to create and manage backups of your data. You can configure it to back up to another Synology device, cloud services, or external drives.
The CMA-01 supports storage expansion through compatible Synology expansion units. Connect the expansion unit to the CMA-01 and use the Storage Manager to configure the additional storage.
Remove the faulty drive from its bay and insert a compatible replacement. Use the Storage Manager to repair or expand the storage pool as required. Ensure the RAID configuration is maintained to prevent data loss.
Enable the firewall and 2-step verification, use strong passwords, and regularly update the device firmware. Restrict network access to trusted IP addresses and disable unused services.
