To perform regular maintenance checks, ensure you inspect the hydraulic fluid levels, check tire pressure, examine the engine oil level, and inspect the forks and mast for any damage. Regularly clean and lubricate moving parts to prevent wear.
If the forklift won't start, check the battery connections for corrosion or looseness. Ensure that the fuel level is adequate and the fuel filter is not clogged. Also, inspect the ignition switch and starter motor for faults.
To improve fuel efficiency, regularly service the engine, keep tires properly inflated, and ensure the forklift is not overloaded. Avoid excessive idling and ensure that the air filters are clean.
Common hydraulic issues include leaks, unusual noises, or slow operation. Check for visible leaks in hoses and connections, ensure hydraulic fluid levels are correct, and inspect the pump and valves for damage.
The engine oil should be changed every 250 hours of operation or according to the manufacturer's guidelines. Regularly check the oil level and quality between changes.
Inspect the hydraulic system for air pockets and bleed if necessary. Check for any obstructions in the mast and ensure it is well-lubricated. Inspect the chains and pulleys for wear or damage.
Store the forklift in a dry, sheltered area. Lower the forks to the ground, apply the parking brake, and disconnect the battery if the forklift will not be used for an extended period. Regularly check and maintain the battery during storage.
Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, conduct a pre-operation inspection, never exceed the load capacity, and ensure the load is stable and secure before lifting. Use the seatbelt and be aware of surroundings and pedestrian traffic.
To adjust the forks, ensure the forklift is on a flat surface, slightly tilt the mast forward, and manually slide the forks to the desired position. Secure them using the locking pins. Always ensure forks are evenly spaced and locked before use.
Check the power steering fluid level and look for any leaks in the steering system. Inspect the condition of the steering linkage and joints. If the issue persists, consult a professional technician for further diagnosis.
