To load continuous paper, first ensure the printer is turned off. Open the printer cover and move the paper release lever to the continuous paper position. Insert the paper into the tractor feed and adjust the sprockets to align the holes in the paper. Close the cover and turn on the printer to begin printing.
If your printer is printing blank pages, check that the ribbon cartridge is correctly installed and not empty. Ensure that the paper is loaded correctly and that the paper path is clear of obstructions. Verify that the print head is not clogged by performing a self-test.
To perform a self-test, turn off the printer. Hold down the LF/FF button and turn the printer back on. Release the button when the printer starts printing. The self-test will print a series of characters to ensure the printer is functioning correctly.
Regularly clean the printer by wiping the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Keep the paper path free of dust and debris. Replace the ribbon cartridge when print quality declines. Periodically check the alignment of the print head and adjust if necessary.
Turn off the printer and open the cover. Remove the old ribbon cartridge by lifting it out of the printer. Insert the new ribbon cartridge and rotate the knob to take up any slack. Ensure the ribbon is aligned and close the cover.
Check that the paper is loaded correctly and that the paper release lever is in the correct position. Ensure there are no obstructions in the paper path. Adjust the paper thickness lever if necessary and make sure the sprockets are aligned properly.
Turn off the printer and gently remove any jammed paper. Check the paper path for any remaining fragments and remove them. Reload the paper ensuring it is aligned correctly. Turn the printer back on and try printing again.
The Epson LX-86 is compatible with continuous paper, single sheets, multipart forms (up to 4 parts), and labels. Ensure that the paper type is suitable for dot matrix printing and within the specified thickness range.
To adjust print head alignment, turn off the printer and open the cover. Loosen the alignment screws and adjust the print head until it is aligned with the paper feed. Tighten the screws and close the cover. Perform a test print to verify alignment.
Store the printer in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight. Cover it with a dust cover to prevent dust accumulation. If storing for an extended period, remove the ribbon cartridge to prevent ribbon deterioration.
