To set up your Brother MFC-8660DN on a wireless network, first ensure your router supports wireless connections. Use the printer's control panel to navigate to the Network menu, then select WLAN and choose Setup Wizard. Follow the prompts to select your network and enter the network password.
If your printer is not printing, check that it is powered on and connected to the computer or network. Ensure there are no error messages on the display. Verify that the printer is set as the default printer in your computer's settings. Check for any paper jams or low toner.
To clear a paper jam, first turn off the printer and open the front cover. Carefully remove any jammed paper bits. Check the paper tray and the back of the printer for additional jams. Once clear, close the covers and turn the printer back on.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the printer's exterior and interior with a soft, dry cloth, checking the toner levels, and replacing the drum unit when necessary. Also, ensure that the printer's firmware is up to date.
To replace the toner cartridge, open the front cover, and remove the drum unit assembly. Push down the green lock lever and remove the old toner cartridge. Insert the new cartridge until it clicks into place, then reinstall the drum unit and close the front cover.
To perform a factory reset, press Menu, select Initial Setup, then Reset. Choose the specific reset function you need, such as Network or All Settings, and confirm your selection. The printer will restart with default settings.
Check if the toner cartridge is empty or near empty and replace if necessary. Clean the drum unit, and check the printer driver settings to ensure the correct paper type is selected. If the issue persists, perform a drum cleaning process via the printer menu.
To connect via USB, ensure the printer is powered off. Connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer. Turn on the printer, and your computer should recognize it and automatically install the necessary drivers. If not, download and install drivers from the Brother website.
Place the document you wish to scan on the scanner glass or in the ADF. Press the Scan button on the printer, choose the desired scan function, and follow on-screen instructions to complete the scan to your connected device.
A "Drum Error" indicates that the drum unit needs attention. Open the front cover and remove the drum unit. Clean the corona wire inside by sliding the green tab from left to right several times. Reinstall the drum unit, close the cover, and the error should clear.
