To set up your Brother MFC-1810 printer, first unbox the printer and remove all packaging materials. Connect the power cable and turn on the printer. Install the toner cartridge as per the instructions in the user manual. Connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable and install the necessary drivers from the Brother website.
Check if the printer is turned on and connected to your computer. Ensure there are no paper jams and that the toner cartridge is installed correctly. Verify that the printer is set as the default printer on your computer. If the issue persists, restart both the printer and your computer.
Place the document you want to scan on the scanner glass or in the document feeder. Open the Brother ControlCenter software on your computer and select the scan option. Choose the desired scan settings and destination, then click 'Start' to initiate the scan.
Turn off the printer and carefully remove any jammed paper from the paper tray and output slot. Open the front cover and gently pull out any stuck paper. Make sure to check for any small pieces of paper that might be lodged inside. Restart the printer once cleared.
Regularly clean the printer exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Clean the scanner glass with a lint-free cloth and glass cleaner to avoid smudges on scanned documents. Periodically check and clean the paper feed rollers to prevent paper jams. Replace the toner cartridge when print quality deteriorates.
Open the front cover of the printer and remove the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. Push down the green lock lever and remove the old toner cartridge from the drum unit. Unpack the new toner cartridge and insert it into the drum unit until it clicks into place. Reinstall the assembly into the printer and close the front cover.
Faded or blurry printouts may be due to a low toner level. Check the toner status and replace if necessary. Ensure the paper type and print quality settings are correctly configured. Clean the drum unit if print quality does not improve after replacing the toner.
Connect the USB cable from the printer to an available USB port on your computer. The computer should automatically detect the printer and install the necessary drivers. If not, download and install the drivers from the Brother support website.
Turn off the printer. Press and hold the 'Go' button while turning on the printer. Continue holding the 'Go' button until the 'Ready' LED turns on, then release. Press the 'Go' button six times to reset the printer to factory settings.
Unusual noises might be caused by a paper jam or foreign objects inside the printer. Turn off the printer and inspect for any obstructions. Ensure all parts, such as the toner cartridge and drum unit, are correctly installed. If noises persist, contact Brother support for further assistance.
