To thread the Brother LS-590, start by raising the presser foot and turning the handwheel towards you to raise the needle. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin and follow the threading path marked on the machine, ensuring the thread goes through the take-up lever and needle eye from front to back.
If the Brother LS-590 is skipping stitches, check that the needle is correctly installed and not bent. Ensure the needle is the correct type for the fabric being sewn. Re-thread the machine, ensuring the thread is properly seated in the tension discs.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the bobbin case and feed dogs with a brush to remove lint. Occasionally oil the machine as per the manual instructions. Always unplug the machine before cleaning or maintenance.
A loud noise can be caused by a lack of lubrication, so ensure the machine is oiled properly. Check for any trapped thread or fabric in the bobbin area and remove any lint build-up.
To adjust the tension, use the tension control dial. Increase tension for tighter stitches and decrease for looser stitches. Test on scrap fabric to find the correct tension for your project.
For lightweight fabrics, use a size 9/70 or 11/75 needle. For medium weight, use size 14/90. For heavy fabrics, use size 16/100 or 18/110. Always consult your manual for specific recommendations.
Ensure the bobbin is placed correctly on the winder spindle. Check that the thread is wrapped around the bobbin winder tension disc. If the bobbin is not winding evenly, it may need to be replaced.
Raise the presser foot lever and remove the current foot by pressing the release button. Align the new presser foot with the shank and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place.
Thread bunching can be caused by incorrect threading or tension issues. Re-thread the machine, ensuring the thread is in the tension discs, and check that the bobbin is inserted correctly.
Ensure the machine is properly plugged in and switched on. Check the foot pedal connection. If the needle is still not moving, the machine may need professional servicing.
