To thread the Brother CS-100T, first raise the presser foot and turn off the machine. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin and follow the threading guide printed on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through each numbered point. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
If your Brother CS-100T is skipping stitches, ensure the needle is inserted correctly and not bent or dull. Also, check that the thread is threaded properly and that the tension settings are appropriate for the fabric.
Regular maintenance includes unplugging the machine, removing lint with a small brush, and oiling the moving parts as per the manual's instructions. Avoid using canned air as it can push lint further into the machine.
If fabric is not feeding, check if the feed dogs are engaged. Ensure they are raised by checking the feed dog lever. Also, make sure the presser foot is down and the correct foot pressure is applied.
Adjust the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Higher numbers increase tension, which is suitable for heavier fabrics, while lower numbers decrease tension, ideal for lighter fabrics. Test on scrap fabric to find the right setting.
Use a 70/10 needle for light fabrics like silk, an 80/12 for medium-weight fabrics like cotton, and a 90/14 for heavy fabrics like denim. Always match the needle size to the fabric type for best results.
Ensure the bobbin is wound evenly and inserted correctly. If tension issues persist, adjust the bobbin tension screw slightly on the bobbin case. Consult the manual for precise instructions on adjustments.
A knocking noise may indicate a misaligned needle or a need for cleaning. Check that the needle is correctly installed and not bent. Clean the bobbin area to remove any trapped lint or thread.
To change the presser foot, raise the presser foot lever and press the black button at the back of the foot holder to release the current foot. Align the new foot with the holder and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place.
If the machine won't start, check that it is plugged in and the power switch is on. Ensure the foot pedal is connected properly. Inspect for any blown fuses or reset the circuit breaker if necessary.
