To connect your Brother HL-4140CN printer to a network, make sure it is powered on, then press the Menu button. Navigate to the LAN settings and select Wired LAN. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your network.
First, check the toner cartridges to ensure they are not empty. Next, verify that the drum unit is installed correctly. If the issue persists, clean the corona wire and ensure that the media type settings match the paper loaded.
To improve print quality, perform a calibration by accessing the printer's menu, select Machine Info, and choose Calibration. Additionally, ensure the paper type setting matches the paper being used and check that the toner cartridges are not empty.
If the 'Toner Low' message persists, remove and reinstall the toner cartridge, ensuring it is seated correctly. Reset the printer by turning it off and then back on. If the message continues, try performing a toner reset from the printer menu.
To perform a factory reset, press the Menu button, navigate to Initial Setup, and choose Reset. Select Factory Reset and confirm your choice by pressing OK. The printer will restart and revert to default settings.
Ensure that the toner cartridge is compatible with the HL-4140CN model. Remove the cartridge and shake it gently to distribute the toner evenly. Reinsert it carefully and check if the printer recognizes it.
To clean the drum unit, open the front cover and remove the drum and toner assembly. Use a lint-free cloth to gently wipe the drum unit. Avoid touching the drum surface directly. Reinstall the assembly and close the cover.
The Brother HL-4140CN does not support automatic duplex printing. However, you can manually print double-sided by printing the odd pages first, reinserting the paper, and then printing the even pages.
Open the front cover and gently pull out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. Push down the green lock lever to release the toner cartridge. Unpack the new cartridge, remove protective covers, and insert it into the drum unit until it clicks. Reinstall the assembly and close the cover.
A grinding noise might indicate a jammed paper or a problem with the drum unit. Inspect for any paper jams and clear them. Check the drum unit and toner cartridges for proper installation. If the noise continues, contacting customer support for further assistance is recommended.
