To install the Brother HL-1230 printer driver on Windows 10, first download the driver from the Brother support website. Run the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. Ensure the printer is connected to your computer via USB when prompted.
Check if the printer is turned on and properly connected to your computer. Ensure there is paper in the tray and that the toner cartridge is not empty. Verify that the printer is set as the default printer in your computer settings. If the issue persists, try restarting both the printer and your computer.
Turn off the printer and carefully open the front cover. Gently remove any jammed paper by pulling it out of the printer. Ensure no pieces of paper remain inside. Close the cover and turn the printer back on.
Open the front cover of the printer and remove the drum unit. Release the toner cartridge from the drum unit by pressing the lock lever. Insert the new toner cartridge into the drum unit until it clicks into place, then reinstall the drum unit back into the printer.
Regularly clean the printer's exterior and interior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals. Check and replace the toner cartridge when needed, and ensure the paper tray is loaded with the correct paper type. Perform a test print periodically to confirm proper function.
Faded prints can occur due to a low toner level. Remove the toner cartridge and gently rock it back and forth to redistribute the toner. If the issue persists, consider replacing the toner cartridge with a new one.
Ensure the printer's resolution settings are set to the highest quality in the printer driver settings. Use high-quality paper and verify that the toner cartridge is not near the end of its life. Cleaning the printer's drum unit can also help improve print quality.
Unusual noises can be caused by paper jams or debris inside the printer. Turn off the printer, open the front cover, and inspect for any lodged paper or foreign objects. Remove any obstructions and close the cover before turning the printer back on.
The Brother HL-1230 is primarily a USB-connected printer and does not support network connections natively. However, you can connect it to a print server or share it through a computer that is connected to a network to allow network printing.
To reset the drum counter, open the front cover, press and hold the "Go" button until all the LEDs light up, then release the button. Close the front cover. This action resets the drum counter to zero.
