To reset the SMC on your MacBook Pro 16-inch, shut down the laptop. Then, on the built-in keyboard, press and hold the Shift, Control, Option keys on the left side and the power button simultaneously for 10 seconds. Release all keys and the power button, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac.
If your MacBook Pro 16-inch won't turn on, first ensure it's connected to a power source. Check for any physical damage or loose connections. Try a different power adapter if possible. Perform an SMC reset. If it still doesn't turn on, contact Apple Support.
To optimize battery life, keep your software up-to-date, adjust screen brightness, use energy saver settings, and unplug peripherals when not in use. Avoid extreme temperatures and consider using Safari for longer battery life during web browsing.
The RAM on the MacBook Pro 16-inch is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded. You must choose the desired RAM configuration at the time of purchase.
To clean the keyboard, turn off the MacBook and unplug it. Use compressed air to blow between the keys, holding the laptop at a 75-degree angle. You can also use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to wipe the keys gently.
The best way to back up your MacBook Pro 16-inch is to use Time Machine with an external hard drive. Alternatively, you can use cloud storage services like iCloud, Google Drive, or Dropbox for file-specific backups.
To connect to an external monitor, use a compatible cable (such as HDMI or USB-C) to connect the monitor to your MacBook Pro 16-inch. You may need an adapter depending on the monitor's input. Once connected, configure the display settings in System Preferences > Displays.
If your MacBook Pro 16-inch is running slowly, check for resource-heavy apps in Activity Monitor, clear unnecessary startup items, ensure adequate free disk space, and consider adding more RAM if possible. Keeping macOS up-to-date can also help.
To enable Night Shift, go to System Preferences > Displays and click on the Night Shift tab. You can schedule it to turn on automatically during sunset to sunrise or customize the timing.
To reinstall macOS, restart your MacBook and immediately press and hold Command + R to enter Recovery Mode. Select 'Reinstall macOS' from the macOS Utilities window and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
