To clean the popcorn maker, unplug it and allow it to cool completely. Remove the cover and popper base. Wipe the popper base with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not immerse in water. The cover and butter cap can be washed with warm, soapy water, then rinsed and dried thoroughly.
Ensure the unit is plugged into a functioning electrical outlet. Check the power cord for any damage. If the problem persists, contact West Bend customer service for further assistance.
For best results, use 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels and 1 tablespoon of oil. This measurement will produce approximately 12 cups of popped popcorn.
It is recommended to use oil rather than butter in the popper base because butter can burn and smoke at high temperatures. You can melt butter separately and pour it over the popped popcorn.
Incomplete popping can be due to stale kernels. Ensure your popcorn kernels are fresh and stored in an airtight container. Additionally, verify that you are using the correct amount of oil and that the popper is preheated.
Make sure the cover is securely placed on the popper base before starting. Do not overfill the unit, and ensure the butter cap is in place to help contain the popcorn within the maker.
Routinely check the power cord for damage. Clean the unit as recommended after each use. Regularly inspect the popper base and cover for any signs of wear or damage and replace if necessary.
It is best to season the popcorn after it has popped to prevent burning or sticking to the popper. Add seasoning immediately after removing the popcorn from the popper and tossing it while still warm.
Ensure the unit is clean and dry before storing. Store in a cool, dry place with the power cord wrapped loosely around the base to prevent damage. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from moisture.
Overheating can occur if the unit is used continuously without allowing it to cool down between batches. Ensure there is adequate ventilation during use and avoid covering the unit with any materials that could trap heat.
