The lens features a versatile 7.8x zoom range, Vibration Reduction for image stabilization, Extra-low Dispersion glass for reduced chromatic aberration, and a Silent Wave Motor for fast and quiet autofocus.
Vibration Reduction can be enabled by switching the VR switch on the side of the lens barrel to 'ON'. This helps reduce camera shake, especially in low-light conditions.
Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a lens cleaning solution specifically designed for optical lenses. Avoid using rough materials or household cleaners as they can damage the lens coating.
Ensure the lens is properly attached to the camera, the AF/M switch is set to 'AF', and the camera settings support autofocus. If issues persist, try cleaning the lens contacts or resetting the camera.
While not a true macro lens, the Nikon 18-140mm has a minimum focus distance of 0.45m, allowing for close-up shots but not true 1:1 macro photography.
Regularly clean the lens surfaces, check for dust or debris around the zoom and focus rings, and store the lens in a dry, cool place when not in use. Use a lens cap to protect the glass elements.
The Nikon 18-140mm lens does not have user-updatable firmware. Firmware updates are generally provided for the camera body rather than the lens.
The Silent Wave Motor enables fast and quiet autofocus, making it ideal for capturing video and action shots without intrusive noise from lens operation.
The Nikon 18-140mm is designed for DX-format cameras. It can be used on full-frame cameras in crop mode but will not utilize the full sensor area, resulting in reduced resolution.
Check for any physical obstructions or debris around the zoom ring. Gently try to loosen the zoom ring. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician or contact Nikon support.
