KORG SE-500 Owner's Manual

To connect the KORG SE-500 to an audio interface, use a 1/4 inch instrument cable. Connect the output jack of the SE-500 to the input jack of your audio interface. Ensure that the interface is set to accept line-level signals for optimal sound quality.
To clean the tape heads, first, power off the unit and unplug it. Use a cotton swab lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the tape heads. Avoid excessive pressure or moisture. Allow the heads to dry completely before using the unit again.
If the tape echo sounds distorted, check the condition of the tape and replace it if necessary. Additionally, ensure that the tape heads are clean and properly aligned. Adjust the input gain to prevent clipping and check for any worn-out components that might need replacement.
To reduce noise, ensure that all cables are in good condition and properly connected. Keep the SE-500 away from potential sources of interference, such as other electronic devices. Using high-quality, shielded cables can also help minimize noise.
The KORG SE-500 is an analog device and does not have MIDI or digital sync capabilities. To manually sync it with a DAW, you will need to adjust the delay time by ear or use a tap tempo feature if available on your DAW or external controller.
Use high-quality loop tape specifically designed for tape echo units. Avoid using cassette tapes as they are not suitable for the SE-500's mechanism and can lead to poor performance or damage.
The tape loop should be replaced every 3 to 6 months, depending on usage. Regularly inspect the tape for signs of wear or damage and replace it sooner if necessary to maintain optimal performance.
The KORG SE-500 requires a power supply with the specifications of 24V DC and 500mA. Always use the original power adapter or a compatible replacement to ensure safe operation.
Adjust the delay time using the "Delay Time" knob on the front panel of the SE-500. Turning the knob clockwise increases the delay time, while turning it counterclockwise decreases it. Experiment with the settings to achieve the desired effect.
If the SE-500 does not power on, first check the power connection and ensure the outlet is functional. Verify that the power adapter is working and properly connected. If the unit still does not power on, consult a professional technician for further diagnosis.
