To connect your KORG MS-20 Kit to an external sequencer, use a CV/Gate connection. Connect the CV out of your sequencer to the VCO 1+2 CV IN on the MS-20, and the Gate out to the TRIG IN. Make sure the sequencer is set to the correct voltage range.
First, set the oscillator waveform to a simple waveform like a sine wave. Then, use the Frequency knobs for each oscillator to adjust the pitch. Use a tuner or a reference pitch for accurate tuning.
Set the VCO 1 waveform to a sawtooth wave and VCO 2 to a square wave. Adjust the filters with a low cutoff frequency and a high resonance for a deep bass sound. Use the envelope generator to shape the amplitude with a short attack and release time.
Ensure that all cables are properly connected and the volume is turned up. Check that the power supply is connected, and the kit is powered on. Verify that the oscillators are set to a waveform and the VCA is open.
Pitch drift can occur due to temperature changes. Allow the unit to warm up for a few minutes before playing. If the problem persists, consider calibrating the oscillators or consulting the manual for troubleshooting tips.
Connect an external audio source to the ESP input. Use the signal level and threshold knobs to control the input level. The processed signal can be routed to the filters or other modules using patch cables.
The KORG MS-20 Kit does not have a standard factory reset procedure due to its analog nature. Reset the patch cables and knob positions to their default settings manually.
Yes, you can use the external signal processor to input audio and route it through the MS-20’s filters and modulation sections to create unique effects.
Regularly clean the surface with a dry cloth to prevent dust build-up. Check connections and patch cables for wear. Store the unit in a stable environment to prevent temperature-related tuning issues.
Set one VCO to a sawtooth and the other to a PWM waveform. Adjust the filter cutoff and resonance for a bright, sharp sound. Use a fast attack and moderate release on the envelope generator for a responsive lead.
