The KORG MS-20 FS requires a MIDI-to-CV converter to connect to an external MIDI controller. Connect the MIDI out from your controller to the MIDI-in on the converter, and then connect the CV and Gate outputs from the converter to the MS-20 FS's CV and Gate inputs.
To clean the KORG MS-20 FS, use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the surfaces. Avoid using any liquid cleaners or solvents. For removing dust from knobs and jacks, use a can of compressed air.
Check the following: ensure all cables are properly connected, verify that both oscillators are turned up in the mixer section, make sure the volume level is adequate, and confirm that the power supply is functioning.
The External Signal Processor (ESP) allows you to use external audio signals to control the synthesizer's parameters. It includes functions for envelope following, pitch tracking, and filtering of external audio inputs.
Calibration frequency depends on usage and environmental conditions, but generally, it's recommended to calibrate the oscillators every 6-12 months to ensure accurate pitch tracking.
Yes, the MS-20 FS can be integrated with modern DAWs via a MIDI-to-CV converter or by using audio interfaces to route audio signals. Some DAWs also support CV/Gate control directly if you have the necessary interface.
To create a basic lead sound, set both oscillators to a sawtooth wave, adjust the filter cutoff and resonance to taste, and use the envelope generator to shape the sound's attack and decay.
Check for any visible obstructions or debris around the key. If the issue persists, it might require internal cleaning or repair, which should be done by a professional technician.
The patch bay allows you to reroute signals and modulations. Experiment by connecting different modulation sources to oscillators, filters, and amplifiers to create unique sounds. Start with basic patches and gradually explore more complex routings.
The MS-20 FS is an analog synthesizer and does not have the capability to save presets. To recall settings, manually document the knob positions and patch bay connections.
