To connect your Denon AVR-787 to a TV for audio output, use an HDMI cable if your TV supports it. Connect the HDMI OUT on the AVR-787 to the HDMI IN on your TV. Alternatively, use optical or RCA cables if HDMI is not available. Ensure the correct input source is selected on the receiver.
If there's no sound, check that the receiver is set to the correct input source, and ensure all cables are securely connected. Verify that the speakers are properly connected and that the volume is not muted. Additionally, inspect the settings menu for any disabled audio outputs.
To perform a factory reset on the Denon AVR-787, turn off the unit. Press and hold the "Power" button along with the "Speaker A" and "Speaker B" buttons simultaneously until the display begins to flash. This will reset the receiver to its factory settings.
The Denon AVR-787 does not natively support control via a smartphone app as it lacks network connectivity features. However, you can use a universal remote app with an IR blaster on your smartphone if compatible.
The Denon AVR-787 does not support firmware updates over the internet. Firmware updates, if available, must be performed by an authorized Denon service center. Contact Denon support for more information.
Regular maintenance for the Denon AVR-787 includes keeping the unit dust-free by using a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Ensure proper ventilation to prevent overheating, and periodically check all cable connections for wear or looseness.
If the remote control is not working, first check and replace the batteries. Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the receiver. Try resetting the remote by removing the batteries and pressing all the buttons before reinserting them.
To improve audio quality, ensure your speakers are properly positioned and calibrated using the receiver's built-in setup options. Use high-quality cables and consider upgrading speakers for better performance. Adjust the equalizer settings to your preference.
If the AVR-787 overheats, ensure it is placed in a well-ventilated area away from other heat-producing devices. Clean any dust from vents and consider using an external fan for cooling. If the problem persists, contact Denon support.
To set up a 5.1 surround sound system, connect your front, center, and surround speakers, along with the subwoofer, to the respective outputs on the AVR-787. Use the speaker setup menu on the receiver to configure speaker distances and levels for optimal sound distribution.
