First, ensure all speaker wires and input cables are securely connected. Check that the correct input source is selected and the volume is turned up. Also, verify that 'Mute' is not activated.
Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the exterior. Avoid using any harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. For the ventilation areas, use a soft brush to remove dust.

The Denon AVR-687 does not support firmware updates as it is an older model without network or USB update capabilities.
Check for overheating by ensuring the unit has proper ventilation. Confirm that speaker wires are not shorted or crossed. If the problem persists, it may require professional servicing.
Ensure that speaker placement is optimal and that the room acoustics are appropriate. You can also adjust the equalizer settings on the receiver to suit your preferences.
Connect your front, center, and surround speakers to the corresponding speaker terminals. Attach the subwoofer to the subwoofer pre-out. Use the on-screen setup menu or manual settings to configure speaker distances and levels.
Store the receiver in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Cover it with a dust cover or cloth to prevent dust accumulation. Ensure all cables are neatly coiled and stored separately.
