With AquaLift Self-Cleaning Technology, an innovative coating on the interior of the oven is activated with heat and water to release baked-on soil. To use AquaLift Self-Cleaning Technology, simply wipe out loose debris, pour water into the oven bottom, and run the AquaLift Self-Cleaning cycle. When the cycle finishes in under 1 hour at a lower temperature than in traditional self- cleaning methods, just wipe out the remaining water and loose debris. See the Clean Cycle section in the Owners Manual for more detailed instructions. For additional information, frequently asked questions and videos on using AquaLift Self-Cleaning Technology, visit our website at http://whirlpoolcorp.com/aqualift.
Preheating When beginning a Bake, Convect Bake, or Convect Roast cycle, the oven will begin preheating after Start is pressed. The oven will take approximately 12 to 15 minutes to reach 350F (177C) with all of the oven racks provided with your oven inside the oven cavity. Higher temperatures will take longer to preheat. The preheat cycle rapidly increases the oven temperature. The actual oven temperature will go above your set temperature to offset the heat lost when your oven door is opened to insert food. This ensures that when you place your food in the oven, the oven will begin at the proper temperature. Insert your food when the preheat tone sounds. Do not open the door during preheat before the tone sounds.
Surface Temperatures When the range is in use, all range surfaces may become hot, such as the knobs and oven door. Baking, Warming or Storage Drawer When the oven is in use, the drawer may become hot. Do not store plastics, cloth, or other items that could melt or burn in the drawer. Oven Vent The oven vent releases hot air and moisture from the oven, and should not be blocked or covered. Do not set plastics, paper, or other items that could melt or burn near the oven vent.
Griddle
Griddle installed on right side of cooktop To Use the Griddle: 1. Locate the griddle on the right side grate as shown. The
locating feet on the bottom of the griddle will engage the grate tines to keep the griddle from sliding.
2. Before each use, brush on a thin layer of cooking oil to keep food from sticking. Cooking sprays may leave a sticky residue on the griddle that is hard to remove.
3. Preheat the griddle for 5 minutes. Preheating the griddle slowly will ensure even heat distribution and will avoid warping the griddle.
4. For preheating and cooking, set the front burner to the lowest heat setting and the rear burner to Medium-High heat for best performance. NOTE: The griddle may also be used on the left side grate. For best results, the rear burner setting should be set to Medium-Low or Medium, and the front burner setting should be set to Low.
To Clean the Griddle: 1. Let the griddle cool, and then empty the drip tray 2. See the General Cleaning section of your Owners Manual
for cleaning instructions. 3. Store griddle in a cool dry place.
Sealed Surface Burners
A. Burner cap B. Burner base C. Alignment pins
D. Igniter E. Gas tube opening
IMPORTANT: Do not obstruct the flow of combustion and ventilation air around the burner grate edges.
4
Burner cap: Always keep the burner cap in place when using a surface burner. A clean burner cap will help avoid poor ignition and uneven flames. Always clean the burner cap after a spillover and routinely remove and clean the caps according to the General Cleaning section. Alignment: Be sure to align the gas tube opening in the burner base with the orifice holder on the cooktop and the igniter electrode with the notch in the burner base. Gas tube opening: Gas must flow freely throughout the gas tube opening for the burner to light properly. Keep this area free of soil, and do not allow spills, food, cleaning agents, or any other material to enter the gas tube opening. Keep spillovers out of the gas tube by always using a burner cap.
A. 1-1 1/2" (2.5-3.8 cm) B. Burner ports
Burner ports Check burner flames occasionally for proper size and shape as shown in the previous illustration. A good flame is blue in color, not yellow. Keep this area free of soil and do not allow spills, food, cleaning agents, or any other material to enter the burner ports. To Clean: IMPORTANT: Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off and the oven and cooktop are cool. Do not use oven cleaners, bleach, or rust removers.
1. Remove the burner cap from the burner base and clean according to the General Cleaning section in the Owners Manual.
2. Clean the gas tube opening with a damp cloth. 3. Clean clogged burner ports with a straight pin as shown.
Do not enlarge or distort the port. Do not use a wooden toothpick. If the burner needs to be adjusted, contact a trained repair specialist.
4. Replace the burner base. Each round burner base is marked with a letter indicating the burner size. See the following illustration for burner positions.
A. Medium (Semi Rapid) B. Large (Ultra Rapid) C. Oval (OV)
D. Small (Auxiliary) E. Large (Ultra Rapid)
5. Replace the burner cap, making sure the alignment pins are properly aligned with the burner cap.
A. Incorrect B. Correct
6. Place the burner caps on the appropriate burner bases. IMPORTANT: The bottom of the small and medium caps are different. Do not put the wrong size burner cap on the burner base.
Small cap (Auxiliary)
Medium cap (Semi Rapid)
Large cap (Ultra Rapid)
7. Turn on the burner. If the burner does not light, check cap alignment. If the burner still does not light, do not service the sealed burner yourself. Contact a trained repair specialist.
EZ-2-Lift Hinged Cast Iron Grates The grates must be properly positioned before cooking. In the proper position, the grates should be flush and level. Improper installation of the grates may result in chipping or scratching of the cooktop. Your cooktop comes with hinged grates for easier cleaning. The grates pivot to the side for easy access under the grates. The grates will stop once they are moved to their vertical (fully open) position. A 20" (50.8 cm) minimum clearance from the countertop to the bottom of the upper cabinets/appliances is needed to fully open the grates.
Be sure to return the grates to their normal (down) position once cleaning is complete. The grates are removable for cleaning.
5
To attach the grates to their hinges, insert the grate slot over the hinge pin on the side of the cooktop. Be sure to keep the grate angled above the cooktop to avoid scratching the cooktop until the grate is seated on the hinge pin. Then position the grate down onto the cooktop.
A. Grate slot B. Hinge pin
Although the burner grates are durable, they will gradually lose their shine and/or discolor due to the high temperatures of the gas flame.
Cookware IMPORTANT: Do not leave empty cookware on a hot surface cooking area, element or surface burner. Ideal cookware should have a flat bottom, straight sides and a well-fitting lid, and the material should be of medium-to-heavy thickness. Rough finishes may scratch the cooktop or grates. Aluminum and copper may be used as a core or base in cookware. However, when used as a base they can leave permanent marks on the grates. Cookware material is a factor in how quickly and evenly heat is transferred, which affects cooking results. A nonstick finish has the same characteristics as its base material. For example, aluminum cookware with a nonstick finish will take on the properties of aluminum. Cookware with nonstick surfaces should not be used under the broiler. Check for flatness by placing the straight edge of a ruler across the bottom of the cookware. While you rotate the ruler, no space or light should be visible between it and the cookware.
Use the following chart as a guide for cookware material characteristics. Cookware Characteristics Aluminum Heats quickly and evenly.
Suitable for all types of cooking. Medium or heavy thickness is best for
most cooking tasks. May leave aluminum residues, which may
be diminished if cleaned immediately after cooking.
Cast iron Heats slowly and evenly. Good for browning and frying. Maintains heat for slow cooking. Rough edges or burrs may scratch the
cooktop.
Ceramic or Ceramic glass
Follow manufacturers instructions. Heats slowly, but unevenly. Ideal results on low to medium heat
settings. May scratch the cooktop.
Copper Heats very quickly and evenly. May leave copper residues, which may be
diminished if cleaned immediately after cooking.
Can leave a permanent stain or bond to the cooktop if overheated.
Earthenware Follow manufacturers instructions. Use on low heat settings. May scratch the cooktop.
Porcelain enamel-on- steel or cast iron
See stainless steel or cast iron. Porcelain enamel bakeware without the
metal base may bond to the cooktop if overheated.
Stainless steel Heats quickly, but unevenly. A core or base of aluminum or copper on
stainless steel provides even heating.
For best results, the cookware should be centered above the burner with the bottom sitting level on the grate. The flame should be adjusted so that it does not extend up the sides of the pan.
Home Canning When canning for long periods, alternate the use of surface burners between batches. This allows time for the most recently used areas to cool. Center the canner on the grate above the burner. Do not place canner on 2 surface burners at the same time. For more information, contact your local agricultural extension
office or refer to published home canning guides. Companies that manufacture home canning products can also offer assistance.

Positioning Racks and Bakeware Use the following illustrations and chart as a guide.
The oven has seven positions for a flat rack, as shown in the previous illustration and the following table.
Flat Rack Position Type of Food
7 Broiling/searing meats, hamburgers, steaks
6 Broiled meats, poultry, fish
3 or 4 Most baked goods, casseroles, frozen foods
2 Roasted meats 1 Large roasts or poultry
IMPORTANT: If your model has a Max Capacity Oven Rack, the recessed ends must be placed in the rack position above the desired position of the food. See the following illustration.
A. Ends of rack in position 3 B. Food in position 2
IMPORTANT: These rack positions are for flat racks. If a Max Capacity Oven Rack is used, the rack position must be adjusted as shown in the previous figure.
Bakeware To cook food evenly, hot air must be able to circulate. Allow 2" (5 cm) of space around bakeware and oven walls. Make sure that no bakeware piece is directly over another. Multiple Rack Cooking Two-rack (non-convection): Use rack positions 2 and 5 or 3 and 6. Two-rack (convection): Use rack positions 2 and 5 or 3 and 6. Three-rack (convection): Use rack positions 2 and 7 and a Max Capacity Oven Rack in rack position 5.
Baking and Roasting Temperature Management System The Temperature Management System electronically regulates the oven heat levels during preheat and bake to maintain a precise temperature range for optimal cooking results. The bake and broil elements or burners cycle on and off in intervals. On convection range models, the fan will run while preheating and may be cycled on and off for short intervals during bake to provide the best results. This feature is automatically activated when the oven is in use. Before baking and roasting, position racks according to the Positioning Racks and Bakeware section. When roasting, it is not necessary to wait for the oven preheat cycle to end before putting food in unless it is recommended in the recipe. Rapid Preheat Rapid Preheat can be used to shorten the preheating time. Only one standard flat oven rack should be in the oven during Rapid Preheat. Extra racks should be removed prior to starting Rapid Preheat. The preheating cycle should be completed before placing food in the oven. When the Rapid Preheat cycle is complete, the oven starts a normal Bake cycle. IMPORTANT: Rapid Preheat should be used only for one-rack baking.
Oven Temperature While in use, the oven elements will cycle on and off as needed to maintain a consistent temperature, but they may run slightly hot or cool at any point in time due to this cycling. Opening the oven door while in use will release the hot air and cool the oven which could impact the cooking time and performance. It is recommended to use the oven light to monitor cooking progress. NOTE: On models with convection, the convection fan may run in the non-convection bake mode to improve oven performance.
Frozen Bake Frozen Bake Technology automatically adjusts the manufacturers bake time by combining preheating and baking, to deliver great packaged frozen food results without the wait. There are six programmed food options to choose from: Pizza, Lasagna, Nuggets, Fries, Pie, and Meal. The Frozen Bake cycles have been customized to work only with these foods. When using Frozen Bake Technology, it is important that you follow all manufacturers instructions including venting, covering, stirring or placing on a baking sheet to ensure a good result. When cooking frozen meals, only cook items that provide instructions for cooking in a conventional oven. Place your dish in the center of the rack and select one of the rack positions recommended for Frozen Bake in the Positioning Racks and Bakeware section and bake only one package or pan at a time. Use the temperature and maximum bake time from the package. A tone will alert you to check the food for doneness before the cook time is complete and again at the end of the cook time. The display will prompt you to add additional cook time if desired or needed at end the cycle.
9
Broiling When broiling, preheat the oven for 5 minutes before putting food in, unless recommended otherwise in the recipe. Position food on grid in a broiler pan, and then place it in the center of the oven rack. IMPORTANT: Close the door to ensure proper broiling temperature. Changing the temperature when broiling allows more precise control when cooking. The lower the broil setting, the slower the cooking. Thicker cuts and unevenly shaped pieces of meat, fish, and poultry may cook better at lower broil settings. Use racks 6 or 7 for broiling. Refer to the Positioning Racks and Bakeware section for more information. For best results, use a broiler pan and grid. It is designed to
drain juices and help avoid spatter and smoke. If you would like to purchase a broiler pan, one may be ordered. See the Quick Start Guide for contact information.
NOTE: Odors and smoke are normal the first few times the oven is used or if the oven is heavily soiled.
Convection Cooking Convection (Fan) cooking cycles the bake burner on and off in intervals while the fan circulates the hot air. This movement of hot air helps maintain a consistent temperature throughout the oven, cooking foods more evenly, crisping surfaces while sealing in moisture, and yielding crustier breads. IMPORTANT:With convection cooking, most foods can be cooked at a lower temperature or at a shorter time. This range automatically reduces the set oven temperature by 25F (15C) for convection cooking.
During convection cooking, the bake and broil burners and convection element cycle on and off in intervals to maintain the oven temperature, while the fan circulates the hot air. NOTE: The convection fan will turn on approximately 5 minutes into any convection cycle. If the oven door is opened during convection cooking, the fan will turn off immediately. It will come back on when the oven door is closed. NOTE: The oven door must be closed for convection broiling. Convection (True) and Convection (Fan) When convection baking, broiling or roasting, enter your normal baking temperature. The control will automatically reduce the set oven temperature by 25F (15C). Convect Options Convect Bake - Multiple-rack baking or cookies, biscuits, breads, casseroles, tarts, tortes, cakes. Convect Roast - Whole chicken or turkey, vegetables, pork roasts, beef roasts. Convect Broil - Thicker cuts or unevenly shaped pieces of meat, fish or poultry.
Proofing Bread Proofing bread prepares the dough for baking by activating the yeast. Follow the recipe directions as a guide. Proof should be used for fresh dough, thawed dough, and for the first and second rise. To Proof: Before first proofing, place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover loosely with wax paper, coated with shortening. Place on rack guide 2 and close the oven door. NOTE: If the temperature of the oven is greater than 120F (49 C), Oven Cooling will be displayed until the temperature is less than 120F (49C).
1. Press PROOF. 2. Press the Start keypad.
Let the dough rise until nearly doubled in size. Proofing time may vary depending on dough type and quantity.
