To start the Toro Recycler 21-inch 22297 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is in the 'choke' position for a cold start, and pull the starter rope firmly. For a warm start, set the throttle to 'run'.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel of the mower. Move each lever to the desired position; ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance.
Check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used, inspect the spark plug for damage or wear, and confirm the air filter is clean. Replace any faulty components as necessary.
After ensuring the engine is off and the spark plug is disconnected, tilt the mower onto its side with the air filter facing up. Use a garden hose to wash away grass clippings and debris.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol to prevent engine damage.
Ensure the blade is sharp and in good condition. Mow when the grass is dry and at a higher setting if the grass is long or dense. Regularly clean the underside of the deck to prevent buildup.
Disconnect the spark plug, tilt the mower, and use a wrench to remove the blade bolt. Install the new blade by aligning it with the blade adapter and securing with the bolt. Ensure it's tightened to the recommended torque.
Check for a bent or unbalanced blade. Inspect the blade for damage and replace if necessary. Ensure all fasteners are tight and the blade is mounted correctly.
Clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and remove any fuel from the tank. Store in a dry, sheltered area and disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starts.
