To start the Toro Recycler 21-inch 22290 Mower, first ensure that the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Prime the engine by pressing the primer bulb three times, then pull the starter handle briskly.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87 and a maximum of 10% ethanol content for optimal performance.
If the mower won't start, check for sufficient fuel, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and verify that the air filter is not clogged. Additionally, make sure the safety handle is fully engaged.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, cleaning or replacing the air filter every 25 hours of operation, and sharpening the blade annually.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position equally on all wheels for uniform cutting.
After use, turn off the mower and disconnect the spark plug for safety. Use a garden hose to rinse the underside of the mower deck and remove grass clippings. Dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
Excessive vibration may be caused by a damaged or unbalanced blade. Inspect the blade for damage and sharpen or replace it if necessary. Ensure the blade is securely fastened.
For optimal performance on thick grass, raise the cutting height, mow at a slower speed, and ensure the blade is sharp. It's also advisable to mow more frequently.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 10W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C) to ensure optimal engine performance.
To store the mower for winter, clean the unit thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank. Store in a dry, sheltered location, and disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting.
