It is recommended to use a power drill with a 5mm drill bit and a Phillips screwdriver to mount the SPH-3I-W Helm Pod. Ensure all tools are in good condition to avoid damage during installation.
To ensure waterproofing, use the provided gasket and ensure it is seated correctly. Additionally, apply a marine-grade sealant around the edges of the pod after installation.
Clean the pod with a soft cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that can damage the surface. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water after cleaning.
Check all screws and bolts for tightness. If a fitting is loose, tighten it using the appropriate tool. If the problem persists, inspect for stripped threads or damaged components and replace if necessary.
Modifying the pod is not recommended as it can compromise its integrity and waterproofing. Consider consulting with a professional or using a larger compatible pod model.
Ensure that the pod is not completely sealed. Leave small gaps or use ventilation holes to allow air circulation and prevent condensation inside the pod.
Inspect the pod every 6 months for signs of wear, corrosion, or damage. Clean regularly, and check the integrity of the sealing gasket and fasteners.
To safely remove the pod, first disconnect all wiring. Then, unscrew the mounting bolts and gently lift the pod away from the helm, ensuring not to damage the surface or wiring.
The SPH-3I-W is designed to fit standard marine electronics such as chart plotters and multi-function displays up to 12 inches. Ensure the device dimensions match the pod specifications.
Use stainless steel hardware and apply a thin layer of anti-corrosion spray or marine grease to the bolts and screws to prevent corrosion, especially in saltwater environments.
