To set up the Olympus BX3-SSU, ensure the microscope is on a stable, level surface. Connect the power supply and attach the objectives and eyepieces as per the user manual instructions. Align the condenser and stage for optimal viewing.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the lenses with lens paper, checking the alignment of optical components, and ensuring all mechanical parts are free of dust and debris. Lubricate moving parts as recommended by the manufacturer.
Check the power connection and ensure the outlet is working. Verify the power switch is in the 'on' position. If the problem persists, inspect the fuse and replace it if necessary.
Ensure the objective lens is correctly positioned and the specimen is properly mounted on the stage. Adjust the focus knobs slowly and ensure the condenser is correctly aligned. Clean the lenses if needed.
Adjust the condenser aperture diaphragm and the light intensity. You can also use contrast-enhancing techniques such as phase contrast or differential interference contrast if available.
Turn off and unplug the microscope. Allow the bulb to cool, then remove the housing cover. Carefully remove the old bulb and replace it with a new one, handling it with a cloth to avoid fingerprints.
Using lens paper prevents scratches that can occur with rough materials. It is designed to clean without leaving residues, ensuring clear and sharp images through the microscope.
Center the condenser under the objective lens. Adjust the condenser height and aperture diaphragm to focus the light beam onto the specimen, ensuring uniform illumination.
Inspect for any debris on the stage rails and clean them. Check for proper lubrication and ensure the adjustment knobs are not overtightened. Adjust tension settings if available.
Remove all detachable components like eyepieces and objectives. Secure the stage and arm, and use the original packaging for transport. Handle with care to avoid jolts and vibrations.
