Perform a visual inspection for any signs of wear or damage, check fluid levels including hydraulic and engine oil, inspect tires for proper inflation and wear, check the brakes, and ensure all safety features and lights are operational.
Begin by checking the hydraulic fluid level and condition. Inspect for leaks in hoses and connections. Ensure the hydraulic filter is clean and not clogged. If problems persist, consult the service manual for detailed diagnostics or contact a professional technician.
Check the battery connections for corrosion or looseness. Ensure the battery is fully charged. Inspect the starter and ignition switch for any faults. Verify that the fuel system is functioning properly, and check for any blown fuses.
Regularly inspect the tires for any cuts, punctures, or excessive wear. Ensure the tires are inflated to the manufacturer's recommended pressure. Rotate the tires periodically to promote even wear. Replace tires that show signs of damage or excessive tread wear.
Immediately shut down the engine to prevent damage. Check the coolant level and look for leaks in the cooling system. Inspect the radiator and hoses for blockages or damage. Ensure the fan is working properly. Refill coolant if necessary and monitor the temperature gauge closely.
To adjust the forks, ensure the forklift is on a level surface and the engine is off. Use the fork adjustment levers to slide the forks to the desired width. Confirm that the forks are locked in place and evenly spaced before operation.
Always wear a seatbelt and appropriate personal protective equipment. Perform a pre-operation inspection. Ensure the load is secure and within the forklift's weight capacity. Operate at safe speeds and be aware of your surroundings. Never lift or transport people on the forks.
Maintain regular engine tune-ups and replace air filters as needed. Ensure tires are properly inflated. Avoid excessive idling and operate the forklift within its optimal power range. Regular maintenance and timely repairs also contribute to better fuel efficiency.
Warm up the engine to ensure the oil flows easily. Turn off the engine and place a container under the oil drain plug. Remove the plug and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and refill with new oil according to the manufacturer's specifications. Dispose of the old oil properly.
Regular service intervals are typically every 250 hours of operation or quarterly, whichever comes first. This includes checking fluid levels, inspecting and lubricating moving parts, and ensuring all systems are functioning properly. Consult the owner's manual for specific guidelines.
