To start the Lull 644B forklift, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the transmission is in neutral, and all hydraulic controls are in their neutral positions. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine starts, then release the key.
Daily maintenance should include checking fluid levels (engine oil, hydraulic fluid, coolant), inspecting tires for wear and proper inflation, examining hydraulic hoses and connections for leaks, and ensuring all lights and indicators are functioning.
If you experience hydraulic issues, check for adequate hydraulic fluid levels, inspect for leaks or damaged hoses, ensure the hydraulic filter is not clogged, and verify that the control levers are functioning properly.
Always ensure the load is secure and evenly distributed. Do not exceed the forklift's load capacity, and keep the load as low as possible during transportation. Use proper mast tilt to stabilize the load when necessary.
Conduct a visual inspection of the forklift, checking for any visible damage. Inspect fluid levels, tires, brakes, and steering. Confirm that all controls and safety devices are operational before use.
Check the battery connections and ensure they are clean and secure. Verify that there is sufficient fuel and the fuel shut-off valve is open. Inspect the ignition switch and starter for faults.
The engine oil should typically be changed every 250 operating hours or as specified in the operator’s manual. Always use the recommended oil type and replace the oil filter at each oil change.
Operators should be aware of the seat belt, ROPS (Roll-Over Protective Structure), backup alarm, horn, and emergency brake as key safety features. Regularly test these features to ensure they are functioning properly.
To improve fuel efficiency, maintain consistent speeds, avoid idling for extended periods, perform regular maintenance, and ensure the engine is properly tuned. Keep tires properly inflated and reduce unnecessary loads.
If the forklift overheats, stop the vehicle and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool before checking the coolant level and inspecting for leaks. Ensure the radiator and cooling fan are functioning properly.
