To change the water filter in your LG LFX25973ST refrigerator, locate the filter compartment inside the upper left corner of the refrigerator. Turn the filter counterclockwise to release it, then insert the new filter and turn it clockwise until it locks into place. Run water through the dispenser for several minutes to purge air and impurities.
First, ensure that the ice maker is turned on and that the water supply line is connected and not kinked. Check that the freezer temperature is set correctly, ideally around 0°F (-18°C). If the problem persists, try resetting the ice maker by unplugging the refrigerator for a few minutes, then plugging it back in.
If your refrigerator is making a loud noise, the issue might be with the condenser fan, evaporator fan, or the compressor. Check if the refrigerator is level and if any items inside are vibrating against the walls. If noise persists, consider contacting a technician for further diagnosis.
To clean the condenser coils, unplug your refrigerator and locate the coils, typically at the back or beneath the unit. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove dust and debris. For stubborn dirt, a coil cleaning brush can be used. Reconnect the refrigerator after cleaning.
To defrost the freezer, remove all food items and unplug the refrigerator. Leave the freezer door open to allow the ice to melt naturally. To speed up the process, you can place containers of hot water inside. Once defrosted, wipe away any water, plug the refrigerator back in, and return the food.
Adjust the temperature settings using the control panel located inside the refrigerator. Press the "Refrigerator" or "Freezer" buttons to cycle through the temperature options. The recommended settings are 37°F (3°C) for the refrigerator and 0°F (-18°C) for the freezer.
Water pooling at the bottom of the refrigerator may indicate a clogged defrost drain. Try clearing the drain with a mixture of warm water and baking soda using a turkey baster or a similar tool. If the issue continues, inspect the door seals for any damage or gaps.
The air filter should be replaced approximately every 6 months to maintain optimal air quality inside the refrigerator. The "Replace Filter" indicator on the control panel will illuminate when it's time to change the filter.
Ensure that the doors are closing tightly and the door seals are intact. Check the temperature settings and ensure they are set to the recommended levels. Make sure the condenser coils are clean and that there is adequate airflow around the unit. If the problem persists, contact a service technician.
After a power outage, reset the control panel by unplugging the refrigerator for about 5 minutes and then plugging it back in. This should restore the default settings and clear any error codes.
