To clean the filter, first remove the lower rack. Then, locate the filter assembly at the bottom of the dishwasher. Turn the filter counterclockwise to remove it. Rinse the filter under running water to remove debris and reverse the steps to reinstall.
If the dishwasher is not draining, check for clogs in the drain hose or garbage disposal. Ensure the drain hose is installed correctly with no kinks. Clean the filter and check the air gap if applicable.
To reset the dishwasher, unplug it from the power source for about 10 seconds, or turn off the circuit breaker. After restoring power, the dishwasher should reset.
Ensure the rinse aid dispenser is filled. Adjust the amount of rinse aid dispensed if necessary. Check the water softener setting if applicable, and ensure the water temperature is at least 120°F (49°C) for optimal performance.
Ensure the door is fully closed and latched. Check that the dishwasher is plugged in and the circuit breaker is not tripped. Verify that the control lock feature is not activated.
Place large items and heavily soiled dishes in the lower rack. Arrange smaller items and delicate glassware in the upper rack. Ensure that items do not block the spray arms and that they face down for better cleaning.
Inspect and clean the spray arms every few months to prevent clogging. Remove the spray arms and rinse them under water, using a toothpick to clear any blocked holes if necessary.
Ensure that items inside the dishwasher are not obstructing the spray arms. Check for loose or improperly placed dishes. Inspect the filter and pump for debris. Unusual noises can also indicate a faulty motor or worn-out parts.
Consult the dishwasher's manual for instructions on accessing the water hardness setting. Adjust the setting according to your local water hardness level to optimize cleaning results and reduce spotting.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the filter and spray arms, using dishwasher cleaner to remove buildup, checking and refilling rinse aid, and inspecting the door seals for debris or damage.
