The recommended oil type for the Kohler KDI2504TM engine is SAE 10W-30 or SAE 15W-40, depending on the ambient temperature in which the engine will operate.
The air filter should be checked every 100 hours of operation and replaced as necessary, or more frequently in dusty conditions.
To troubleshoot starting issues, check the fuel supply, inspect the battery for charge and connections, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify that the glow plugs are functioning correctly.
To reset the service indicator, turn the ignition key to the "ON" position without starting the engine, then press and hold the reset button on the display panel until the indicator resets.
To bleed the fuel system, loosen the bleed screw on the fuel filter and pump the manual fuel pump until fuel flows without air bubbles, then retighten the screw.
The coolant should be replaced every 2 years or 2000 hours, whichever comes first, to ensure proper engine cooling and performance.
Symptoms of a faulty fuel injector include rough idling, misfiring, increased fuel consumption, and excessive exhaust smoke.
To adjust the valve clearance, remove the valve cover, set the engine to top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke, and use a feeler gauge to adjust the clearance to the specifications listed in the service manual.
Regular maintenance tasks include checking and changing the oil and oil filter, inspecting the air filter, checking the coolant level, and inspecting the fuel system for leaks and clogs.
Engine overheating can be caused by low coolant levels, a clogged radiator, or a faulty water pump. To fix it, ensure the coolant level is adequate, clean the radiator, and inspect the water pump for proper operation.
