Kohler CH26 Owner's Manual

The recommended oil type for a Kohler CH26 engine is SAE 10W-30. For temperatures above 32°F (0°C), SAE 30 can also be used.
The oil should be changed every 100 operating hours or annually, whichever comes first.
The spark plug gap for a Kohler CH26 engine should be set to 0.030 inches (0.76 mm).
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is in good condition, and verify that the air filter is clean. Additionally, inspect the battery and connections for any issues.
Inspect the air filter every 25 hours of operation and clean or replace it if necessary. The air filter should be replaced every 100 hours or annually.
Adjust the carburetor by turning the idle speed and mixture screws to achieve smooth operation at idle. Refer to the engine manual for specific adjustment procedures and settings.
Drain the fuel system, change the oil, remove the spark plugs and add a few drops of oil into the cylinders, then crank the engine to distribute the oil. Store the engine in a dry, cool place.
Regular maintenance such as changing the oil, cleaning the air filter, and ensuring proper carburetor adjustments can improve fuel efficiency. Use high-quality fuel and avoid overloading the engine.
Possible causes of overheating include a dirty air filter, low oil level, clogged cooling fins, or an incorrect fuel mixture. Ensure all components are clean and functioning properly.
To replace the fuel filter, first ensure the engine is cool and the fuel valve is turned off. Remove the old filter by disconnecting the fuel lines, then install the new filter and secure the fuel lines.
