To thread the Janome TB-12, raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel towards you to raise the needle. Follow the threading path marked on the machine, ensuring the thread is seated in the tension discs. Pull the thread through the take-up lever and down through the needle.
If the needle keeps breaking, check if it's inserted correctly and not bent. Ensure you're using the right needle for the fabric. Also, re-thread the machine and check the bobbin for any issues.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. For most fabrics, a setting of 3-5 is appropriate. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure the tension is correct.
Skipped stitches can be caused by a dull or bent needle, incorrect threading, or improper tension settings. Replace the needle, re-thread the machine, and adjust the tension as needed.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the bobbin area with a small brush, lubricating as per the manual's instructions, and ensuring the machine is covered when not in use to prevent dust buildup.
The Janome TB-12 uses Class 15 plastic bobbins. Using the correct bobbin type is crucial for optimal sewing performance.
To change the presser foot, raise the needle and presser foot, then press the lever at the back of the foot holder to release the current foot. Align the new foot and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place.
Check that the feed dogs are raised and clean. Make sure the presser foot is down and using the correct pressure. Also, verify the stitch length setting is appropriate for the fabric type.
Turn off the machine, remove the needle plate, and take out the bobbin case. Clear any thread jams or lint. Reassemble the bobbin case ensuring it is properly seated before restarting the machine.
Unusual noises can indicate a need for cleaning or lubrication. Check for any loose screws or parts. If the noise persists, consult the manual or contact a professional technician.
