To thread the Janome 107, first raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel to raise the needle to its highest position. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin and follow the threading path marked on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through each guide and tension disc. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
Ensure you are using the correct needle type and size for your fabric. Check that the needle is inserted correctly and tightly in the needle clamp. Also, verify that the needle is not bent or damaged and that the bobbin is correctly installed.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Increase the tension for tighter stitches and decrease for looser stitches. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to find the perfect tension for your project.
Skipped stitches can be caused by a dull or bent needle, incorrect threading, or improper tension settings. Replace the needle, re-thread the machine, and adjust the tension if necessary.
Regularly clean the bobbin area and feed dogs with a small brush to remove lint and threads. Oil the machine as indicated in the manual, and take it for professional servicing annually. Always unplug the machine before cleaning or maintenance.
Bunching can occur due to incorrect threading, incorrect tension, or a poorly wound bobbin. Ensure proper threading, adjust the tension settings, and check that the bobbin is wound evenly.
Remove the bobbin cover plate and take out the empty bobbin. Place a wound bobbin into the bobbin case, making sure the thread unwinds in the correct direction. Pull the thread through the slot and replace the cover plate.
A loud noise can be caused by a need for lubrication, incorrect threading, or a bent needle. Oil the machine according to the manual, re-thread, and replace the needle if necessary.
Check if the machine is properly threaded and that the presser foot is down. Ensure the feed dogs are up and not engaged in the 'drop feed' position. Verify that the foot pedal is connected correctly.
Raise the needle to its highest position and lift the presser foot lever. Press the black lever at the back of the presser foot holder to release the current foot. Align the new foot and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place.
