To thread the needle on your Janome Skyline S7, follow these steps: 1) Raise the presser foot and turn off the machine. 2) Pull the thread from the spool and pass it through the thread guide. 3) Follow the threading path as indicated on your machine, ensuring the thread goes through the take-up lever. 4) Use the automatic needle threader by lowering it and pulling the thread through the guide before releasing to thread the needle.
If your stitches are skipping, check the following: 1) Ensure the needle is properly inserted and not bent or dull. 2) Use the correct needle type and size for your fabric. 3) Re-thread the machine, checking both upper and bobbin threads. 4) Clean the bobbin case of any lint or debris. 5) Make sure the presser foot is securely attached.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. For most fabrics, a setting between 3 and 5 is suitable. For tighter stitches, increase the tension, and for looser stitches, decrease it. Always test on a scrap piece of fabric before starting your project.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the bobbin area, changing the needle after every project or 8 hours of sewing, and wiping down the machine with a soft cloth. It's also important to have your machine professionally serviced annually.
If your machine is jammed, first turn it off and unplug it. Remove the fabric and check for tangled threads. Open the bobbin case and remove any lint or tangled threads. Re-thread the machine and bobbin, ensuring the fabric is not too thick for the needle being used.
To select a decorative stitch, press the stitch selection button on the LCD screen, navigate through the options using the arrow keys, and then confirm your choice by pressing the OK button. Adjust the stitch length and width as needed.
Ensure the feed dogs are raised; you can find the lever near the bobbin area. Check that the presser foot is down and using the correct foot for the fabric type. Make sure the fabric is positioned properly under the presser foot.
Turn off your machine and raise the needle to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back and push it up as far as it will go. Tighten the needle clamp securely.
Prevent thread breakage by ensuring the machine is correctly threaded, using good quality thread, and checking for any burrs on the needle plate or bobbin case. Also, adjust the tension settings according to the thread and fabric being used.
Attach the buttonhole foot to your machine. Select the buttonhole stitch on the LCD screen, and place the button in the foot to set the size. Position the fabric under the foot, lower the buttonhole lever, and start the machine. The machine will automatically sew the buttonhole.
