Janome S650 Instruction Book

To thread the Janome S650, start by placing the spool on the spool pin. Follow the threading guide on the machine, passing the thread through the thread guide, tension discs, and take-up lever. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
If the stitches are skipping, check the needle for damage and ensure it is correctly inserted. Also, verify that the machine is threaded properly and the tension settings are appropriate for the fabric being used.
To clean the Janome S650, first unplug the machine. Use a small brush to remove lint and dust from the bobbin area and other accessible parts. Oil the machine as per the manual's instructions, focusing on the shuttle hook and other moving parts.
If the fabric is not moving, make sure the feed dogs are engaged and not lowered. Check that the presser foot is down and verify the stitch length setting to ensure it is not set to zero.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Turn the dial to a higher number for tighter tension and to a lower number for looser tension. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure the desired stitch quality.
For lightweight fabrics, use a size 9/11 needle. For medium-weight fabrics, a size 14 is recommended, and for heavy fabrics, use a size 16/18 needle. Always match the needle size to the fabric type for optimal results.
First, re-thread the machine, ensuring the thread is correctly positioned in the tension discs. Check the bobbin and make sure it is wound evenly. Adjust the tension settings and test on a similar fabric until the stitch quality improves.
A knocking noise could indicate a bent needle or a need for cleaning. Replace the needle, clean the bobbin area, and check for any loose screws or parts. If the noise persists, consult a technician.
To select stitches, turn the stitch selection dial to the desired stitch number. Refer to the stitch chart on the machine to identify the correct number for each stitch type.
If the needle breaks frequently, ensure you are using the correct needle size and type for the fabric. Check for any obstructions in the needle path and verify that the needle is inserted correctly and fully tightened.
