To thread the Janome S-2015, start by raising the presser foot and turning the handwheel to raise the needle to its highest position. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin and pass the thread through the thread guide. Follow the numbered threading path, threading the tension mechanism, thread take-up lever, and finally the needle from front to back.
If stitches are skipping, check the needle to ensure it is not bent or dull. Replace it if necessary. Also, verify that the needle is correctly inserted and that the machine is properly threaded. Adjust the tension settings and try using a different thread type suitable for the fabric.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the bobbin area and feed dogs of lint and dust using a small brush or vacuum attachment. Oil the machine as per the manual's instructions, typically focusing on the bobbin area and moving parts. Always unplug the machine before performing maintenance.
Check if the feed dogs are raised. If they are down, the fabric won't feed correctly. Also, ensure the presser foot is lowered and suitable for the fabric thickness. Clean the feed dogs if they are clogged with lint or debris.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Turn the dial to a higher number for more tension or a lower number for less tension. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure the stitch quality is as desired.
Unusual noises can be caused by a lack of lubrication or something caught in the machine. Turn off and unplug the machine, then check for any thread or lint caught in the bobbin area or under the needle plate. Lubricate the machine according to the manual, and ensure the needle is correctly installed.
Ensure the bobbin is correctly placed on the winder spindle and that it’s pushed to the right. Check that the thread is correctly positioned in the bobbin winding tension guide. If the bobbin does not wind evenly, re-thread the machine and try again.
Frequent needle breakage can occur if the needle is bent, incorrectly inserted, or the wrong size for the fabric. Ensure the needle is fully inserted with the flat side to the back and use the correct type and size needle for the material being sewn.
To change the presser foot, raise the needle to its highest position and raise the presser foot lever. Press the lever at the back of the foot holder to release the current foot. Place the new foot under the holder and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place.
Ensure that the power cord is firmly plugged into both the machine and a functioning power outlet. Check the foot control connection and replace the fuse if necessary. If the machine still doesn't turn on, consult the manual or contact customer support for further assistance.
