To thread the Janome MyLock 734D, follow the color-coded threading guide on the machine. Start by raising the presser foot to release tension discs, then thread each of the four tension dials in the order specified: upper looper, lower looper, right needle, and left needle. Ensure threads are securely placed in the tension discs and follow the path indicated for each thread.
Uneven stitches can be caused by incorrect tension settings or improper threading. First, check that the machine is threaded correctly and re-thread if necessary. Adjust the tension dials gradually until the stitches are balanced. It's also a good idea to check the needle for damage and replace it if necessary.
To change the stitch length on the Janome MyLock 734D, locate the stitch length dial on the right side of the machine. Turn the dial to select your desired stitch length, with a range typically from 1 to 4 mm. A higher number results in a longer stitch.
Regular maintenance for the Janome MyLock 734D includes cleaning lint and debris from the machine after each use, particularly around the feed dogs and loopers. Additionally, oil the machine as per the manual’s instructions and have it professionally serviced annually.
The differential feed on the Janome MyLock 734D can be adjusted using the differential feed dial, located on the side of the machine. Adjust the dial to reduce stretching on knit fabrics or to gather lightweight fabrics, with settings generally ranging from 0.5 to 2.0.
Thread breakage can occur due to incorrect threading, tension set too high, or old/damaged thread. Check the threading path and tension settings first. Ensure you're using high-quality thread suitable for serging and replace any old thread.
To sew a rolled hem, remove the left needle and use only the right needle. Set the stitch length to a shorter setting, usually around 1.0 mm. Adjust the tension settings for a tighter stitch. Consult the manual for specific tension adjustments needed for rolled hems.
The Janome MyLock 734D can handle a wide range of fabrics, including lightweight silks, medium-weight cottons, and heavy denims. Adjust the tension, stitch length, and differential feed appropriately for the fabric type to achieve optimal results.
To replace the needles, ensure the machine is turned off. Loosen the needle set screw using a screwdriver and remove the old needles. Insert new needles, ensuring the flat side is facing the back of the machine. Tighten the screws securely.
Unusual noises may result from a need for cleaning or oiling. Lint buildup or lack of lubrication can cause friction. Clean the machine thoroughly and apply oil as recommended in the manual. If the noise persists, consult a professional technician.
