To thread the Janome MyLock 234, start by raising the presser foot and setting the tension dials to zero. Follow the threading guide on the machine, threading the upper looper first, then the lower looper, and finally the needles. Ensure threads are securely in the tension discs and check the manual for detailed steps.
Uneven or skipped stitches can be caused by incorrect threading, dull needles, or incorrect tension settings. Re-thread the machine, replace the needles, and adjust the tension settings gradually while testing on a scrap fabric until the stitches are even.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning lint and debris from the machine using a small brush or vacuum attachment. Oil the moving parts as recommended in the user manual. Always unplug the machine before cleaning or maintaining.
Ensure that the presser foot is down, and check the differential feed setting. Adjust the differential feed according to the fabric type. Also, verify that the feed dogs are clean and not obstructed.
To adjust the stitch length, locate the stitch length dial usually found on the right side of the machine. Turn the dial to increase or decrease the stitch length as needed for your project.
The Janome MyLock 234 is compatible with standard serger needles, typically size 11/75 or 14/90. Consult the user manual for specific recommendations based on fabric types.
To change the presser foot, raise the presser foot lever and release the current foot by pressing the lever at the back of the presser foot holder. Align the new foot and lower the holder until it snaps into place.
Unusual noises can be caused by incorrect threading, a loose needle, or the need for lubrication. Re-thread the machine, check needle tightness, and oil the machine per the manual's instructions.
Ensure to use high-quality thread and that the machine is threaded correctly. Check that the tension is not set too high and that the needles are appropriate for the fabric being used.
Cover the machine with a dust cover to protect it from dust and debris. Store it in a cool, dry place. Ensure it is unplugged and that all parts, such as needles and threads, are removed or secured.
