Janome MyLock 203 Instruction Book

To thread the Janome MyLock 203, start by raising the presser foot and setting the tension dials to zero. Follow the color-coded threading path, beginning with the upper looper, then the lower looper, and finally the needles. Ensure each thread is properly placed in the tension discs and guide paths.
Uneven stitches can be caused by incorrect tension settings or improper threading. Re-thread the machine, ensuring the threads are correctly seated in the tension discs. Adjust the tension settings gradually until the stitches appear even.
To change the needle, turn off the machine and unplug it. Lower the presser foot, then loosen the needle set screw with a screwdriver. Remove the old needle and insert a new one with the flat side facing the back. Tighten the screw securely.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the lint and dust from the machine after each use, oiling as per the user manual, and checking for worn-out parts. It's also recommended to have the machine professionally serviced annually.
Adjust the tension by turning the dials located on the front of the machine. For tighter stitches, increase the tension number. For looser stitches, decrease it. Test on a scrap fabric to achieve the desired stitch quality.
Frequent thread breakage could be due to incorrect threading, excessive tension, or using old or incompatible thread. Re-thread the machine, adjust the tension settings, and ensure you're using high-quality thread suitable for serging.
Fabric puckering can occur due to high tension or incorrect differential feed setting. Lower the tension settings and adjust the differential feed to match the fabric type. Test on a scrap fabric to fine-tune the settings.
Skipped stitches are often caused by a dull or bent needle or incorrect threading. Replace the needle with a new one, re-thread the machine, and ensure the fabric is properly positioned under the presser foot.
To clean the serger, turn off and unplug the machine. Open the front cover and use a small brush to remove lint and dust from the loopers, feed dogs, and surrounding areas. Avoid using compressed air as it can push debris further into the machine.
Unusual noises can result from lack of lubrication, loose parts, or incorrect threading. Oil the machine according to the manual, check for any loose screws or parts, and ensure the machine is threaded correctly.
