To thread the Janome MOD-50, first raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel to raise the needle. Place the spool on the spool pin, and pull the thread through the guides following the numbered sequence. Thread the needle from front to back.
Check that the machine is correctly threaded, the bobbin is wound and inserted properly, and the needle is not bent or dull. Also, ensure the fabric is correctly positioned and the presser foot is lowered.
Adjust the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Turn it to a higher number to increase tension and to a lower number to decrease tension. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to achieve desired results.
Ensure that the feed dogs are engaged. If they are lowered for free motion quilting, raise them using the feed dog lever. Also, check if the stitch length is set properly.
Turn off the machine and raise the needle to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back, and tighten the clamp screw securely.
Regularly clean the bobbin area and feed dogs to remove lint and dust. Oil the machine as instructed in the user manual. Have the machine serviced by a professional annually to ensure optimal performance.
Press the stitch selection buttons to choose your desired stitch pattern. The selected stitch will appear on the LCD screen. Adjust the stitch length and width if necessary using the appropriate controls.
Ensure the correct needle size and type is being used for the fabric. Check for any bent needles and replace them. Verify that the needle is inserted correctly and that the tension is not too tight.
Yes, the Janome MOD-50 can accommodate twin needles. Be sure to use a twin needle that is compatible with your machine, and follow the threading instructions for twin needle use.
Attach the buttonhole foot. Select the buttonhole stitch and set the button size. Place the fabric under the foot, pull down the buttonhole lever, and start sewing. The machine will automatically sew the buttonhole.
