To thread the Janome MOD-19, first raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel to raise the needle. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin. Follow the threading guide on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through each guide, the take-up lever, and the needle. Finally, insert the thread through the eye of the needle from front to back.
If the needle breaks frequently, ensure you are using the correct type and size of needle for your fabric. Check that the needle is installed correctly, not bent or damaged, and the machine is threaded correctly. Also, verify that the presser foot and needle plate are securely attached.
To maintain your Janome MOD-19, regularly remove lint and dust from the machine using a small brush or vacuum attachment. Clean the bobbin area and feed dogs. Occasionally, oil the machine as per the manual instructions. Always unplug the machine before cleaning.
Loud noises may result from accumulated lint or thread in the bobbin area or insufficient lubrication. Clean the machine thoroughly and oil it as recommended. Ensure the needle is not bent, and the thread is inserted properly.
To adjust the tension, locate the tension dial on the machine. Increase the tension by turning the dial to a higher number or decrease it by turning it to a lower number. Test on a fabric scrap to achieve the desired stitch quality.
Skipped stitches can be caused by a dull or incorrectly installed needle. Replace the needle and ensure it is the correct type for your fabric. Check that the machine is threaded properly and the tension settings are correct.
To change the presser foot, raise the presser foot lever and the needle. Press the presser foot release button to remove the current foot. Align the new presser foot with the presser foot holder and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place.
To wind the bobbin, place a spool of thread on the spool pin. Pass the thread through the bobbin winding tension disc. Insert the thread end through the bobbin hole from inside to outside. Place the bobbin on the bobbin winder spindle and push it to the right. Start the machine to wind the bobbin.
If the fabric is not feeding, check that the feed dogs are raised. Ensure the presser foot is lowered, and the stitch length is set correctly. Clean the feed dogs and check for any obstructions in the bobbin area.
To perform a basic stitch, ensure the machine is threaded and the bobbin is loaded correctly. Select the desired stitch pattern and adjust the stitch length and width if necessary. Place the fabric under the presser foot, lower the presser foot, and begin sewing.
