To thread the Janome MOD-15, start by placing your spool of thread on the spool pin. Follow the threading path, which is usually indicated by numbers on the machine, down through the tension discs, up through the take-up lever, and finally down to the needle. Make sure the presser foot is raised during threading to ensure proper tension.
Frequent needle breakage can occur if the needle is bent or inserted incorrectly, the needle size is inappropriate for the fabric, or if there is an issue with the machine's timing. Check that the needle is properly installed and use the correct needle size for your fabric. If the problem persists, consult a technician.
Uneven or skipped stitches can result from incorrect threading, a dull or damaged needle, or improper tension settings. Re-thread the machine, replace the needle, and adjust the tension settings according to your fabric type.
To prevent fabric puckering, ensure the correct tension settings and needle size are used for your fabric. Use a stabilizer if necessary and check that the presser foot pressure is appropriate for the thickness of the fabric.
Regular maintenance involves cleaning lint from the bobbin area and feed dogs using a small brush. Occasionally oil the machine as per the manufacturer's instructions. Always unplug the machine before performing any maintenance.
Ensure that the thread is correctly placed in the bobbin winding tension disc and that the bobbin is placed securely on the bobbin winder spindle. If the bobbin does not wind evenly, check that the thread is not tangled and the bobbin is not damaged.
If the fabric does not feed, check that the feed dogs are in the correct position. Ensure the presser foot is down and that the stitch length is properly set. Clean any lint or debris from the feed dog area.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Typically, a setting of 4 is suitable for most fabrics. Adjust incrementally and test on a scrap piece of fabric to achieve the desired stitch quality.
Unusual noises can indicate a need for maintenance. Check for loose screws, ensure the needle is correctly installed, and clean the machine of any lint or debris. If the noise persists, consult a professional technician.
The Janome MOD-15 can handle moderate weight fabrics. For heavier fabrics, use a suitable needle, adjust the presser foot pressure, and ensure the machine is set to a slower speed to accommodate thicker materials.
